The journal “Plovdiv Historical Forum” is published by the Department of History and Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy and History of Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”. Its aims are: to publish and promote the achievements and the latest research of established and early-career scholars; to foster research activity in history, archaeology, archival studies, source studies, numismatics, epigraphy and the other auxiliary historical disciplines; and to present on its pages both the application of the traditional methods of historical, archaeological and archival research and interdisciplinary approaches in the pursuit of objectivity, reliability and comprehensiveness in the reconstruction of the historical past.
The journal will also strive to offer current scholarly debates, profiles of scholars and their original research, reviews of new scholarly works, and information on academic events related to the activities of the Department of History and Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy and History of Plovdiv University and of our partner organisations.
The journal’s priorities also include adherence to a high standard of scholarship, respect for the copyright and scholarly rights of researchers, and the ethical rules of scholarly and publishing activity.
Conceived as an outlet for historical scholarship at Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”, the journal hopes to reach beyond the institutional boundaries of its academic home and to establish itself nationally and, in the longer term, internationally as a recognisable and authoritative scholarly publication.
